Meetings

Typical Meeting

1:45 PM Registration and Library Browsing

2:00 PM Welcome and Announcements

2:15 PM Sharing/Support Groups

3:30 PM Social Time

4:00 PM Program

During our sharing/support time we divide into small groups. In these small groups, we invite people to introduce themselves and to talk about their lives and relationships.

We learn from listening to others and telling our own stories. Occasionally people feel more comfortable just listening and learning from the conversations.

All are WELCOME. We offer a SAFE place to meet. All of our discussions are CONFIDENTIAL.

Small Group Guidelines

  • Meetings address the challenges and feelings surrounding the relationships GLBTQ people have with their families.
  • Confidentiality is a top priority.
  • We speak in the first person – sharing our own experiences and feelings.
  • We avoid making generalizations. Instead, we express feelings, rather than opinions.
  • We offer support by sharing our own experiences, rather than giving advice.
  • Our goal is to be supportive, not confrontational.
  • Everyone is encouraged to participate verbally. Silence, however, is acceptable for those who choose it.
  • Monopolizing is unfair to others who may wish to speak. Sharing sessions are structured so that everyone is given a chance to participate
